Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue massage is aimed at the deeper layers of the muscle and connective tissue. It is generally more intense than Swedish massage and is therefore used when already relaxed.
Slower strokes and deep finger, hand and forearm pressure are used to release tension. Appropriate pressure is applied to located points of tenderness and muscle tension or knots. This enables muscles to release rather than tense further due to being painful when touched.
Mutual communication between client and therapist is required in order to accurately locate tender points and apply suitable amounts of pressure in order to be effective. It is an ideal form of massage particularly if you suffer from tight, aching muscles or back pain.
